Startup Incubator Coffee Morning: Smart "Nutikas" growth for startups

Spots for smart startups are limited! To bootstrap or fundraise, that's the question. Or is there a 3rd option? Smart specialisation is one of the cornerstones of innovation policy across the European Union. Supporting specific areas of smart specialisation, companies and startups working in the field of ICT, health tech or more efficient management of resources are welcome to apply for a hefty support. With up to 2m funding option, NUTIKAS supports product development and applied research. Startups and SME’s like Click & Grow, Mooncascade, GoSwift Security, Guardtime, Thinnect as well as Swedbank have all used it to develop new, research-driven solutions. Viktor Muuli from Eesti Teadusagentuur is the man who supports organisations in the application process. With the NUTIKAS option, companies can apply for funding per project between 20 000 – 2 million euros. This year, the  call for applications is open until 19 December 2019. Jürgo Preden, CEO of Thinnect  will talk more about their smart lights system that can be implemented to real estate management. With this solution, buildings can be made more energy efficient. Thinnect's intelligent system can be used for different kind of IoT projects where systems have to communicate with each other. Rain Eisler from TalTech IT Department leads new development projects where private companies benefit from the partnership with TalTech's Software Department. IoT, Blockchain, Industry4.0, Machine Learning, Cyber Threat Prediction, etc. - all the buzz in one place. Join us on 4 June 10:00-12:00 at Tehnopol Startup Incubator (Mäealuse 2/1). Smart startups are welcome to ask questions regarding funding and cooperation projects. Funding waits for them! Smart specialisation growth areas are fields of activity where the companies should have above-average development opportunities and where the allocation of resources to R&D would enable them to achieve a competitive advantage. The current R&D&I strategy ‘Knowledge-based Estonia’ sets out three growth areas: - information and communication technologies (ICT) related to other areas of economy (e. g. cybersecurity, software development or the use of ICT for automating industrial processes);- health technologies and services (e. g. the use of biotechnology or IT for the development of medical services or products);- more effective use of resources (valuation of resources) (e. g. materials science and/or industry, innovative construction options, more effective utilisation of oil shale in the chemical industry).
