      A Photographic Essay

Rick McCullough, Diane Cahill-Bedford, and Kathryn Noletto

Associate Professor Rick McCullough, Dianne Cahill-Bedford (MFA 2009), and Kathryn Noletto-Felis (MFA 2010) of the Florida State University School of Dance spent three weeks in July 2010, in residence on the campus of the American Dance Festival at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. They photographed classes, rehearsals, and performances of students, teachers, and professional dancers. Rick McCullough returned to the festival for two weeks in 2011 to continue photographing this annual event. These images are but a few of the thousands taken while seeking to capture in photography the human experience of being a dance artist at this historic dance festival.

This project was supported by a Florida State University Office of Research Arts and Humanities Program Enhancement Grant.
