Word Processing: What Editors Expect You to Know
Writers Forum board members Sharon Owen (author of the Aimee Machado Mysteries) and George Parker (memoirist and podcast host) will team up on Saturday, October 12 to provide a tutorial on word processing. Sharon will review the basics of Microsoft Word, including the Track Changes editing tool that is an industry standard. Most publishers require manuscripts to be submitted in MS Word, and editors expect to use Track Changes when working with authors.
George will explain the elements of Scrivener, an app designed for writing, organizing, and editing long-form projects such as novels, research papers, television scripts, and plays. Scrivener combines a word processor with advanced file and folder organization; easy note, research, and reference tools; and other features. George will explain how a project finished in Scrivener format can be converted into MS Word before it is submitted to agents and/or editors.
Writers Forum meets from 10:30 to 12:30 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Eaton Hall East, located at 2150 Benton Drive, Redding, CA. Doors open at 10 a.m. The public is welcome to get acquainted with two free visits before joining. Annual membership dues are $25.
