      EVENT DETAILS
      Preventing Harassment and Discrimination

This presentation is designed to share with participants model EEO policies and then to examine those policies with a series of questions that touch on all areas related to harassment, discrimination, bullying, retaliation, equal opportunity, implicit bias, responding to employees’ complaints and concerns, and the process of creating a workplace of mutual respect and trust. The issues will be presented as multiple choice options, not simply seeking a single correct answer but rather to explore the issues and to engage participants in a discussion of questioning the process, decisions and assumptions.  Many of the multiple answers provided to different questions are intended to outline the common arguments in defense of inappropriate behavior. The intent of including those defenses is to engage participants in a discussion of some of the implicit assumptions underlying some very inappropriate conduct in the workplace. An overarching goal of this presentation, therefore, is to go beyond the traditional training on sexual harassment prevention training and to tackle more challenging subjects such as: what motivates really bad behavior in the workplace?; how do we address our own biases and the biases of others?; and how should a company formulate its own ethical and professional standards so as to set a much higher bar than the minimal statutory safeguards prohibiting harassment, discrimination and retaliation?   Registration @ 7:45am Continental Breakfast @ 8:00am Speaker Begins @ 8:30am Speaker Ends @ 10:30am About the Speaker: [av_one_half first] [av_one_half]   SHRM Recertification PDCs  This program is valid for 1 PDC toward SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP recertification.Northstate SHRM is recognized by SHRM to offer SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP professional development credits (PDCs).
