Treating the Negative Effects of Permissive Parenting

On Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 11:00AM to 12:00PM at the ACO campus in Princeton, NJ, Alberto Foglia, M.D. will present “Treating the Negative Effects of Permissive Parenting” as part of our monthly A Different Kind of Psychiatry Case Presentation Series.

Mario, a three-year-old boy, suffered from problems of impulse control both at home and school. The severe nature of his condition, however, became more evident once Mario and his mother began medical orgone therapy with Dr. Foglia. During their first session, the full impact of the mother/son attachment issues were observed. The mother had no control over Mario and was unable to direct and guide his intense emotions. When she tried to do so, Mario exhibited a disturbing intensity of rage, hatred and fear.

The separation difficulty between Mario and his mother is reminiscent of a case made famous by Jane Goodall in her research and observations in Gombe, Africa. Goodall described the case of the young chimp, Flint, who presented similar attachment complications with his mother Flo—the disturbance that ultimately caused Flint’s premature death. It is very interesting to see the parallels between the causes of these attachment problems: the biological weakness of Flo and the emotional weakness of Mario’s mother.

We hope you will join us to hear more of Mario’s story and how medical orgone therapy can effectively address and treat disordered childhood functioning. Chris Burritt, D.O. will join Dr. Foglia for the open discussion.
