Military & First Responders Trauma & Systemic Solutions

Working with Military & First Responders brings a number of challenges to a counselor. This two-part, six-hour training will seek to address the unique needs of clinicians who work with these two population groups. Trust is a significant factor in any effective trauma care we as clinicians might offer, and this is even more important for those who run toward the sound of gunfire and trouble. Active military service members, veterans, and first responders have unique cultures. Military language, mindsets, and backgrounds often work against therapy effectiveness, while first responders who deploy every day, such as police, firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics, uniquely develop the ability to put trauma in a box in order to do their jobs every day. This training event will give clinicians an inside look at the military culture, with insights from the presenter's personal experience working with service members, as well as cutting-edge techniques for those providing care to military and first responders. Gain critical insight into First Responder and military cultures Acquire new strategies for understanding family-of-origin issues as they relate to trauma Receive specialized instruction that will boost your therapeutic progress in your work with military and first responders See our Training Event Brief for complete CE credit information.
