The Kennedys- Colin Gilmore- Adam Traum

The Friends Folk Club along with St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church is pleased to announce a rare area performance by The Ragged But Right Quartet featuring Colin Gilmore, Adam Traum ,and The Kennedys, on Friday, July 12th at 7:30pm. Colin Gilmore, son of legendary troubadour Jimmie Dale Gilmore, grew up in Lubbock, Texas and later moved to Austin as a teenager. It was in Austin he was exposed to groundbreaking Alt-Country/Americana artists like Joe Ely, Butch Hancock, and too many more to name. Through this lens he is carving his own path through today’s musical landscape. While drawing on the environs that surrounded him growing up he has his own voice and approach to music with an easy-going vocal style, well crafted songs and guitar chops to match. Gilmore has received critical acclaim for his solo albums. His latest work The Wild And Hollow was named “Best Americana/singer-songwriter album of 2013” by Huffington Post’s Mike Ragogna and his album Goodnight Lane received 4-star reviews in Mojo and Uncut. He frequently works with the elder Gilmore and they have an instructional workshop video coming on Homespun Music Instruction. For over two decades, husband and wife Pete and Maura Kennedy have traversed the highways and byways of the US and the UK, as a folk/pop duo and as members of Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra. As The Kennedys, they have released over a dozen CDs, are regulars on the festival circuit, and were named Artists-in-Residence at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Their original music is uplifting, encouraging and empowering, with an always-positive vibe, emblematic of their love for the classic songwriting of Buddy Holly. In fact, their first date was a road trip to Holly’s grave in west Texas. That was the start of a decades-long road trip and songwriting partnership. Adam Traum was raised halfway across the country from Austin, in the historic hamlet of Woodstock, New York, in a musical family. His father is Happy Traum, a folk luminary who is still actively playing and teaching. Traum was surround by influential artists like Bob Dylan, The Band, John Sebastian and Pete Seeger to name a few of the artists he was exposed to and jammed with. He eventually found his way to the Americana world which influenced his songwriting while he still drawing on his early exposure to folk and blues to create a sound all his own. Traum has impressive guitar chops to match his soulful tenor singing. His songs range from plaintive to humorous and his genuine warmth comes through when he performs. He has garnered positive reviews for his first acoustic solo release Just Like Home (2012) in Acoustic Guitar Magazine, Oakland Tribune and Sonoma Sun. His trio the Mosey Boys released their debut CD One Takes in August of 2016. St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church is located at 116 Lancaster Pike Oxford, PA 19363 . Doors open at 7:00pm and starts at 7:30pm. Proceeds from this concert will benefit St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church.
