      1864 Civil War Ball - July 19, 2019

A Civil War Ball is planned on Friday, July 19, 7 PM to 9:30 PM, in the restored German Bank Barn at Allison Antrim Museum as part of the activities leading up to 1864 The Burning.  The 2019 Civil War Ball features the Victorian Dance Ensemble. Before each dance, the Victorian Dance Ensemble provides demonstration and instruction.     Participants may dress in Civil War era attire, contemporary formal attire, or contemporary business attire. The ball is open to children twelve and older and adults.  Ball tickets are $15 for adults or $25 per couple.    Begin the 1864 Weekend with the Civil War Ball. Experience Victorian era dance and social interactions of the era. It is a relaxing evening and suitable for both experienced and beginning dancers.       The Victorian Dance Ensemble was recognized in 2016 with the President's Volunteer Gold Service Award. The group supports historic preservation and education projects while promoting visitation  to historic sites.     For questions and additional information, contact the Franklin County Visitors Bureau at 866.646.8060 or 717.552.2977.  Additional 1864 Weekend activities include Old Market Day in downtown Chambersburg from 9 AM to 4 PM, heritage-cultural exhibits, an art display, and a quilt display. Finals of A Cappella & Unplugged begin at 7 PM with each of the three finalists performing two songs, and at 9 PM the 1864 Chambersburg Comes to Life with the living history portrayal of the Ransoming, Burning & Rebirth of Chambersburg--with lights and atmospheric effects so real, it appears to be afire. All activities are free on July 20. Evening activities, 6 PM to 10 PM, are on the Square. Feel free to bring a lawn chair.  More at ExploreFranklinCountyPA.com.
