      Cacao Ceremony

During my travels of a small island in Nicaragua, I was introduced to one of the most delicious medicines of this world that I believe was put here for a purpose. A purpose to open closed hearts, connect spirits, and enjoy the sacredness of our bodies. What is cacao?Cacao, cocoa, chocolate.. what is the difference? Cacao usually refers to the beans of the plant pod. These beans are harvested, fermented, dried and roasted, and then winnowed. After this stage the beans are ready for manufacturing of cocoa liquor, cocoa powder, or various chocolates. Chocolate making is a very complicated process.. the form of the medicinal drinks that I will be serving is raw cacao paste from stone ground beans that is mixed in hot water and added with various spices. This drink is full of benefits for the heart, brain, serotonin, emotions, hormones, and so on.What happens in the ceremony?During the ceremony, we will put our best intentions into the group and into the drink. As we sip, we will break into discussion groups on topics that will create more freedom and inspiration for your goals and aspirations. To close, we will end in a 5Rhythm dance to explore different elements of ourselves and connect to our most authentic expression. The effects of this medicinal plant are extraordinary for creating a space of openness, focus, positive energy, and creativity. Connecting with others is something I find our world needs more of as depression and addiction continue to rise. At times, our humanness can make us afraid to face ourselves. This plant will ease the process of going inward so we can find that space of joy that is forever within us.I think Rumi sums it up so nicely:“Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.”How to prepare:Come on an empty stomachBring your pen and journalDress comfortablyBring waterLet go
