Want to improve your ability to support and understand clients with diverse needs and backgrounds? The Family Violence Prevention Month (FVPM) Committee is hosting a free training day for non-profit staff to participate in multiple small "round-tables" lead by experts who will share their knowledge, lead discussions, and answer questions. The day will include the chance to attend four roundtable sessions (two in the morning, two in the afternoon). Attendees can pick and choose which session or sessions best fit their schedule. Who should sign up: Frontline staff with non-profits and organizations, especially those who work with marginalized and vulnerable members of the community. We also welcome MHC students who will be going into these fields. What is the cost? Absolutely free, thanks to sponsorship by the Medicine Hat Women's Shelter Society and in-kind donations from Family Violence Prevention Month committee members. What should I bring with me? We will be providing coffee, tea and water, but lunch is not provided. MHC Food Services are available on site. Please bring items you prefer to use for taking notes. We also encourage you to bring literature from your organization and business cards to exchange with other participants for networking. I missed out on registering for the session topic I want: We've limited the number of people who can participate in each round table. If the event is successful, we will look at holding other training days in the future. Who do I contact for more information: Email or phone 403-527-8223. What is the Family Violence Prevention Month Committee? This committee is lead by the Medicine Hat Women's Shelter Society and co-ordinates multiple events throughout November to mark Family Violence Prevention Month. We're grateful for the participation of McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association, Medicine Hat Family Service, City of Medicine Hat, Medicine Hat SPCA, Saamis Immigration, Medicine Hat Public Library, Medicine Hat Police Service, Students' Association of Medicine Hat College, Indigenous Supports at Medicine Hat College, and Addictions & Mental Health Community Services.
