You will have the chance to try out appropriate materials and tools to use with your collection. Safe and simple ways to handle, clean, store and display your archive collection will be included, focusing on books, paper, maps and plans, documents and photographs. There will be a tour of the archive and conservation studio at Dorset History Centre. There will be some practical activities to gain skills to use in your museum. Who should attend? Helena specialises in finding practical and affordable solutions, and providing training for non-specialists. In her spare time she helps conserve sites and objects in Egypt. Helena is a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation. Jacqui Halewood is the Principal Archivist at Dorset History Centre. Jacqui manages the public access, preservation, collections care and community engagement team at the Dorset History Centre. Jenny Halling Barnard is the Archive Conservator at Dorset History Centre. Jenny undertakes preventative and remedial conservation at Dorset History Centre and provides advice and treatment for external clients.
