Hard Edges is a report that has been completed by Lang Kelly Chase, The Robertson Trust and authored by Herriot Watt University in June 2019 discussing the issues presenting in Scotland. The research highlights the complexity of the lives of people facing five keys multiple disadvantages north of the border. It also details the challenges that charitable services and the public sector are facing. In particular, the report illustrates the mismatch between the multiple disadvantages people face and the fact that services are often set up to address ‘single issues’. The conversation cafes are designed to bring community members and services together to identify gaps and find resolves to the five key trends being presented in the report. The five key trends discussed will be Homelessness (poverty), Offending, Substance Dependency, Mental health and Domestic Abuse.  Serendipity Scottish Borders Recovery Café (sbrc) has been asked to facilitate this conversation with the support from Scottish Recovery Consortium.
