Session Aims: The Reducing Parental Conflict Programme is funded by the DWP based on EIF research. In the East Midlands we are taking a regional approach, working together to share resources and plan for positive change for children and families. Co-parenting adults argue and disagree for a number of reasons. When arguments become a frequent part of day to day life for children, when they are exposed to intense arguments, or when arguments are not resolved well, evidence shows that children are at more risk of multiple negative outcomes. This programme is designed to upskill staff that work with families. Session Objectives: Module 1: Understanding Parental Conflict and its   Impact on Child Outcomes (3.5 hours) Links between parental conflict and children’s   outcomes; recognising parental conflict; stressors and triggers of parental   conflict; key role of father/male carer in parenting; where to refer for   further support. Suitable for front line staff who have limited   contact with parents/carers or whose contact with parents is very specific   (eg front of house staff, housing officers, teaching staff, police) Module 2: Recognising and Supporting Parents in Parental Conflict Recognising relationship stress and when it causes   harm; signs of domestic abuse and your responsibilities; identifying and   discussing parental conflict triggers; supporting parents to recognise where   change is needed. Suitable for front line staff who have regular or   intensive contact with parents/carers (eg support workers, health visiting   teams, pastoral staff)
