      An Introduction to Sensory Processing

The workshop aims to cover the following: 1. The different senses. 2. Why sensory processing is important for our learning and development   3. The types of behaviours that may be observed in a child with sensory processing difficulties. 4.  How it feels for these children. 5. strategies to promote a calm and organised child.  Workshop run by Rachael Gartland (Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist & Sensory Integration Practitioner) In partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council, Bedford Borough, SNAP Parent Carer Forum, Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum and NHS Cambridgeshire Community Services.  This workshop is free and aimed at all parents and carers wanting to gain a further understanding of Sensory Processing.  Sensory Processing is how children learn about and understand the world through their senses.  However, for some, this process is more difficult and sometimes problematic.  The workshop aims to develop your understanding of why people process sensory information differently, how and what this looks like for a child and some strategies for you as a family member, friend or colleague can do to help. The venue for the workshop is Houghton Regis Children's Centre which is located on Tithe Farm Primary School site.  Parking is limited on site to staff of the centre.  Parents are asked to park on the surrounding roads.   Access to the centre is through either of the main gates.   The centre is made up of 2 buildings and you will need to report to the centre building that is attached to school which is signposted and you will be directed from there as to which building the workshop will be located in.   If you have any questions about the event please email leaving your details and contact number and a member of the team will contact you. If you are unable to attend this session or it is fully booked we are delivering a further 4 workshops from November through to February 2020 in venues acorss Central Bedfrodshire.  All future workshops are daytime sessions.  Please refer to a specific event to book onto one of these sessions.  FAQs  Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
