      Getting to Grips with Writing Skills for Business Workshop  A half-day workshop to help participants define their message, develop writing skills, and learn about targeting to a readership, therefore maximising the chances of achieving positive publicity. Learn from an expert in media and journalism the tips and techniques for ensuring you structure your communications correctly to benefit your businesses. Who is it For? The course is suitable for business owners, managers or employees who are, or may be, required to write content for on or offline such as press releases, advertorials, editorials, websites and blogs. How are you going to use your new writing skills?                           • Workshop evaluation. 12:45-13:00*       Q&A 13:00                 Close We are able to deliver this is free of charge to you with thanks to funding from the European Regional Development Fund.  The workshop will start at 09:00 am for registration and start promptly at 09:15 am. The day will conclude at 1:00 pm. This will provide you with 3hours 30mins of information, diagnostic and brokerage delivery and support. This event is 4 hours in duration and will provide 3hrs and 30mins of Information, Diagnostic and Brokerage (IBD*). This is equivalent to £175 worth of State Aid. Funded by the European Regional Development (ERDF) Fund, this rare opportunity is free to attend!  This course, as with all the New Anglia Growth Hub events, is suited and intended for businesses already running and established. Please refer to courses by NWES and MENTA for courses more suited for those businesses who are pre-start or have been trading for less than 12 months. Course Objectives At the end of the sessions each participant will:• Have increased awareness of the opportunities for publicity for themselves and their business, in the press and    online• Be able to identify what makes a good PR opportunity• Be able to plan a feature and how to write it• Understand the requirements of a news release (including quotes, photographs etc)• Understand the needs of different audiences and how to write interesting copy• Learnt tips from a professional and experienced writer Participants will each receive a pack of specially written course support  Workshop Facilitator/Trainer - Rachel Sloane - http://www.rachelsloane.co.uk/homeRachel is an award-winning broadcaster in both commercial radio and BBC local radio, who produces corporate and training videos and writes features and reviews for magazines, newspapers and websites. A qualified trainer (City and Guilds 730 – Further Education Teachers Certificate) she has over thirty-five years’ experience of training adults through the lively, challenging but enjoyable, practical workshops. She is the author of the training e-book "The Useful Guide to Handling the Press and Media" (publisher: The Business Learning Foundation). Rachel has an established profile as an after-dinner and conference speaker, and as a cruise ship lecturer. She gives ongoing publicity support to the High Sheriff of Suffolk, Suffolk Community Foundation and the Suffolk Historic Churches Trust. FAQs What do I need to bring? Pens and pads will be provided, but if you prefer a certain pen, lined paper or a certain type of book or notepad to take your notes please bring these with you. This will be a group activity event with tasks and you are welcome to bring a laptop or tablet, but please be advised that you will need to bring these ready charged. Also, some keyboard can be distracting to other people, so please be aware you may be asked to stop using them if they distract other attendees. What are my travel/parking options to and from the event? The venue is on Hall Road, off of the A1214(Main Road). We are in The Bunker rooms.  For this walk past the front of the main building, (lawns are to the right of you, building to the left) you will see a small building ahead of you, this is The Bunker. We will be in one of the 2 meeting rooms in this area. Signage should be visible. This is all on one level so access should not be an issue. But if you have any disabled parking requirements, there are a few spaces right beside the hotel, otherwise, the car park can be a little walk away. If you have any concerns, please call the hotel direct to discuss your requirements. I want to book for more than one person from my company? Due to the popularity of these events, we are only able to allow one person per company to attend. However, please email naghmarketing@newanglia.co.uk, if you wish a colleague to attend as well and if we have cancellations we will notify you immediately on a first come, first served basis to offer another ticket. Your information will be stored on Eventbrite according to Eventbrite terms and conditions. Upon arrival you will be required to sign in on our attendance sheet, to provide evidence of your physical attendance, state aid and feedback form for the event, and if we are missing of the key data, such as company name, address contact number a form to collect this missing information.  This will be kept on the server as evidence for our ERDF funding for the length of the contract evidence requirements. After your attendance will be stored on the secure Growth Hub CRM system. This is required in order to provide evidence of your attendance and eligibility for the course. This will be kept to the statutory dates any only accessible to Growth Programme and authorised personnel. If you request further contact from an adviser post this event they will use this information to contact you and log any future interactions, again to evidence for ERDF funding. Your information will not be given to any third parties without your permission.  However we will share your details with our trainers if you tick the sign in box next to your signature upon signing in, so they are able to contact you should you wish them to. Any paperwork completed by you for the course, you are welcome to have copies of upon request. State Aid Declaration This event is delivered, free of charge, to SMEs (SME is defined as an Enterprise with fewer than 250 employees and has either an annual balance sheet not exceeding 43mEuro or Annual Turnover not exceeding £50m) other restrictions may apply. This support is being provided as de minimis aid under EC Regulation 1407/2013 (De Minimis Aid Regulation). This is equivalent to £175 worth of State Aid. Please note: This is not a request for payment; we are merely required to notify you of the value, which will be relevant if you wish to apply or have applied for any other de minimis State Aid in the future. There is a ceiling of €200,000 for all de minimis aid provided to anyone organisation over a three fiscal year period (i.e. your current fiscal year and previous two fiscal years).
