      Cyanotype Workshop

Let Steve Lovegrove show you how to harness the power of the sun to create beautiful blue prints from found objects.Cyanotype printing is one of the oldest, simplest, safest & cheapest alternative photographic processes. The process harnesses the power of the sun to easily make beautiful blue prints from objects like leaves, flowers, jewellery, feathers etc. The possibilities are endless. A large selection of objects will be provided but feel free to bring your own. Examples are plant cuttings, flowers, lace, small items of glassware etc. This workshop will involve the creation of Cyanotype prints. It is a simple process involving coating sheets of paper with the required chemistry, drying, placing objects in contact with the paper & exposing in sunlight. Development is done in water & no dark room is required. No prior skills or understanding of photography is required. It is an easy, fun process that produces relatively quick results & work that is finished on the day. It is very hands on and anyone can make great images easily & safely. Notes on the process & where to obtain materials & chemicals will be provided. There will be lots of opportunities to experiment with paper types, objects & making images from supplied film negatives. Please bring along your own snacks, lunch & drinks. Tea and coffee will be provided. Dark Arts Photography and Darkroom is supported by Kickstart Arts as part of the Creative Living Park project - turning the story around.
