This event is designed to be an enjoyable, family friendly fundraiser--help us achieve that goal! Game Rules This is a double elimination tournament. All teams are guaranteed 2 scheduled games. Standard baskets are 1 point. Baskets made beyond the 21 foot (2 point) line are awarded 2 points. A coin flip prior to the game will determine who gets possession at the start of the game. A possession change will occur after each made basket.  The ball must be passed into play. The ball must be taken back behind the 2 point line at every possession change.  All fouls and violations will be called by referees. Winner bracket games will be played to 18 points or 20 minutes (whichever comes first). Consolation bracket games will be played to 15 points or 20 minutes (whichever comes first). In the event of a tie at 20 minutes, the first team to score wins.  A coin flip will determine possession to start the overtime.  In the event that inclement weather occurs, games may be delayed, shortened, or cancelled or the double elimination format may be changed to single elimination. Free throws: A free shot will be awarded on a shooting foul.  The shooter has the choice to shoot a free throw for 1 point or to shoot from behind the 2 point line for 2 points.  If the shooter misses the free throw his/her team retains possession. If the shooter misses the 2 pointer, his/her team loses possession.  When a foul is committed on a made basket, the offensive team will be awarded the point (or 2 in the case of a 2 point shot) for the basket and will be allowed to shoot a free throw as per above (no option for shooting a 3 pointer in the event of a foul on a made basket).  Bonus free throws are awarded once a team has committed 7 team fouls, as per the above description. Each team is allowed one (1) one minute timeout per game.  Unsportsmanlike behavior by players, coaches and spectators will not be tolerated.  Ballin' at the Bay reserves the right to remove any offenders from the current and future events. A technical foul may be assessed for any misconduct, flagrant or intentional fouls committed by a player(s).  A technical foul will result in a free throw and possession for the opposing team. The 3rd/4th grade division will be played on lower rims and with 28.5 balls. The 5th/6th grade division will be played on standard rims and with 28.5 balls. Alternating possessions will be awarded for jump balls.
