Future of PVG & Disclosure Legislation for Local Authorities

Disclosure (Scotland) Bill & the Future of PVG for Local Authorities PVG is changing…   On the 13th June 2019, the Disclosure (Scotland) Bill was submitted into the Scottish Parliament proposing key changes to the legislation underpinning the Protection of Vulnerable Groups and the Disclosure of Criminal Information (available here).   This Bill has been designed to deliver a balance between the twin objectives of delivering a fairer, less invasive, disclosure regime whilst also strengthening the ability to protect the most vulnerable in society. These proposals were formed following the public consultation conducted in 2018 (report available here).   Disclosure Scotland are keen to engage with key stakeholders to explore the proposals within the submitted Bill and the steps required to implement them.   We are running a number of sessions across the country, targeting prominent Local Authorities to explore these proposals and the steps required to implement them.   These sessions are targeted towards lead signatories of Registered Bodies & Regulators and have been designed to generate informed discussions on how the proposed changes will impact your organisation as well as the wider sector. It also gives you the opportunity to discuss these proposals with the lead signatories of other attending organisations.   If your lead signatory is unavailable, we would encourage attendance from a representative with appropriate knowledge/expertise of PVG and its implementation.   Having your say will help to form the future of the PVG Scheme and the implementation of the proposals submitted to Parliament.   **Please note** Due to limited availability, we can only offer 1 place per organisation   Session Duration: 2.5 hours   If you require more information or have any questions please contact our Customer Engagement team via   Other sessions arranged specifically for Local Authorities are scheduled for the following dates: 1st August : Saughton House, Edinburgh 14th August  : Atlantic Quay, Glasgow 22nd August : Longman House, Inverness
