      The Aeolian Trio

The Aeolian Trio with Todd Isler. The Aeolian Trio, named after the Greek god of wind, creates an Asian world music fusion that harkens back to the fabled Silk Road. The trio's performance evokes the traditional music of Japan, India, Spain and flamenco, as well as Western classical and jazz -- all on the same stage. Bruce Huebner plays the shakuhachi, a bamboo flute rooted in Zen Buddhism. Bruce studied shukuhachi under the late Goro Yamaguchi (Living National Treasure) at the Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music. Croton-on-Hudson resident Todd Isler, who trained with masters Ramnod V. Raghavan and Karaikudi R. Mani in India, adds hand percussion of South Asia and the Mideast to the mix. And, Shu Odamura – a native of Kyoto, who came to the U.S. to attend the Berklee College of Music – plays the guitar, which also has deep roots in North Africa and the Middle East. Sunday, March 8, 2:00 p.m.
