      Benefit for Mary (Kapper) Letasz

      Join us on Friday October 18th from 6 pm - 11 pm at the American Legion Post in Chicopee Mass for great food, DJ, 50/50 raffle, a raffle with exceptional items and games. All money raised will help support Mary and her family in their fight against Multiple Myeloma a serious and life long cancer.  Mary Letasz, wife, mother, sister and daughter diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in August of 2017. Multiple Myeloma is a rare cancer that affects the plasma cells. With this condition, a group of plasma cells becomes cancerous and multiplies. The disease can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count, and currently, there is no cure for Multiple Myeloma. Mary has been receiving Chemotherapy treatment in Springfield under the advisement from her doctors in Boston at Dana Farber Cancer Institue. In May of 2018, she underwent a stem cell transplant in Boston to help fight the cancer, she has not reached remission. Mary Letasz (Kapper) is a Chicopee native where she attended St Joan of Arc followed by Barry Middle School until she attended Chicopee Comprehensive High School Class of 1982. Recently her and her husband David both went back to college together where they both majored in Business. Mary received a degree in Accounting from Bay Path University, while her husband received a business degree from UMass both graduating in May of 2017. While their daughter, Amanda received a Marketing Degree the following May from the University of Hartford. She is currently working in Boston. Professionally Mary has worked for Big Y's main office for their accounting department for the past 25 years, while her husband David has worked in various Big Y the stores for going on 32 years. Personally, Mary has a passion for music, photography, and volunteering. Mary has volunteered with her husband for the past 26 years at the Boston Marathon. Locally she's worked with other parishioners at St Stanislaus to start the "Take and Eat" Program that would deliver meals on the weekend to those who were homebound. Running the program for a number of years before stepping down to focus on her schooling. Mary and Amanda are Lifetime members of the Chicopee Falls Chapter 1489 - Women of the Moose.
