      This testing page is NOT FOR DUAL CREDIT STUDENTS. Dual credit students must sign up via the dual credit link provided by your counselor Where to come to take the Placement test: JCTC Carrollton Campus, Room 134, 1607 Hwy 227, Carrollton, KY 41008 Exit 44 off I-71 This campus location is 50 MILES northeast of Louisville. What to bring the day of testing: A photo ID is required to take the test (government-issued ID, school ID or work ID). We STRONGLY encourage you to prepare ahead of time to take your placement test You may bring a calculator for the math portion of testing. How to prepare for testing Reading & Writing Practice Sites (these tests are untimed): Use the Next-Generation Sample Questions for Reading or WritePlacer Guide with Sample Essays for English Select “Free Practice Tests for ACT” for Reading & Writing only. Avoid the sections that want to charge you for materials. There is a free test (you will get results through your email). There is also an extensive grammar tutorial (menu #2) Math Practice Sites (this test are untimed): Click on the “Practice Exams,” any of the Math College Readiness or the Math College Algebra Practice Tests will give you a good idea of what will be on the test, and help you study. Select the math tab and get clear instructional videos on basic math, pre-algebra and algebra 1. For the math Placement test you can use a calculator. Students may use any four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator except for: calculators with built-in or downloaded computer algebra system functionality such as TI-89 or TI-92 and the TI-Nspire CAS. We do have scientific calculators available if you need one. A student should plan on being on campus for at least two hours. All tests are untimed. The Reading assessments has 20 questions, the English assessment is open response essay (must be typed), the math assessment is 25 college algebra level questions. Please allot enough time that you do not feel rushed to finish. Testing can be broken in two with Reading and English first and math on a later date. FAQs How can I contact the organizer with any questions? Please email and include heading “Placement Testing” Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? A confirmation ticket will be immediately sent to the email address you provided. Please do not worry about printing the tickets. Your picture ID will suffice. Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? You must bring a valid picture ID. If you do not have a state issued ID, you will need a HS transcript with your picture.
