      Computer Science 50th Anniversary Keynote Address

      The BGSU Department of Computer Science celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2019 with a featured keynote speaker. Alumni, industry professionals, current faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the address and dinner. There will be a $25 cost to attend the dinner event; registration information will be posted on the  Computer Science 50th Anniversary website.   

      Keynote Address — Alex Aiken, Ph.D., Stanford University

      About the speaker

      Dr. Alex Aiken is the Alcatel-Lucent Professor of Computer Science at Stanford. He received his bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Music from Bowling Green State University in 1983 and his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1988. He joined the Stanford University faculty in 2003. Previously, he was a research staff member at the IBM Almaden Research Center (1988-1993) and a professor in the EECS department at UC Berkeley (1993-2003). His research interest is in areas related to programming languages. He is an ACM Fellow, a recipient of ACM SIGPLAN's Programming Languages Achievement Award and Phi Beta Kappa's Teaching Award, and a former chair of the Stanford Computer Science Department.

      Additional events are planned on Friday, Nov. 8, for computer science alumni, past and present faculty and students.
