      Contemporary Dance-July and August Session

      Incorporating the styles of Ballet, Modern Dance and Lyrical Jazz, classes will begin with a center warm-up, followed by across the floor and center combinations. All levels and abilities are welcome for this all inclusive class! Instructor Katrina Locklin focuses on teaching proper technique in a fun, relaxed atmosphere where students are encouraged to be themselves.  Please be aware if a class falls below 3 students, the class time will be abbreviated. Dress Code:  Please come dressed in comfortable, fitted clothing with ballet shoes, half-soles or bare feet.  Please no oversized sweatpants or tees so that the instructor may properly observe your movements.  Restrooms are available to change your clothes onsite. Instructor:  Katrina Locklin.  Katrina has been teaching various styles of dance for over thirty years nationwide. Originally from Connecticut, Katrina furthered her dance education in Boston, MA where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance from The Boston Conservatory. Katrina was the Artistic Director and owner of Urban Grace Dance - a pre-professional dance school located in Pennsylvania, before relocating with her family to Banner Elk, NC. Among her accomplishments, she has performedprofessionally with several multi-disciplinary dance companies, dance troupes and in community theater. Her choreography has spanned from school and studio performances and competitions, to full stage productions, as well as television and video.  Note:  Mayland Enterprise Programs provides courses, seminars, and community activities that contribute to an individual's cultural, civic, and/or personal growth. These programs are self-supporting and are not reported to the state for budget FTE.
