Walking Tour of Downtown Mid-Century Architecture

The earthquake and subsequent aftershocks in 1952 damaged nearly 300 buildings in downtown Bakersfield and East Bakersfield. This forced, urban renewal allowed local architects to reimagine the city. Please join us on Saturday, October 5th in front of City Hall South (1501 Truxtun Avenue) at 10:00 AM for a walking tour of downtown Bakersfield's mid-century architecture led by Kern County Museum Curator Lori Wear. This tour will last approximately two hours. Please wear comfortable shoes, a hat, and bring water to drink. Admission is free for Kern County Museum members, $10 for adult non-members, and $5 for student/child non-members. Museum members must present their membership card for free admission.
