      EVENT DETAILS
      Advanced Wetland Delineation 2019

This training will expand upon the wetland delineation principles discussed in basic wetland delineation, focusing on tools for dealing with difficult wetland situations. We will discuss indicators for problematic vegetation, soils, and hydrology, as well as alternative approaches for complex situations such as grasslands on Clear Lake clay and other dark soils, wetland-upland mosaics, or delineations on very large sites.  The training will also discuss jurisdictional issues and recent court decisions affecting the 2015 Waters of the U.S. definition which is now in effect in 22 states. We will review the new definition and its implications for conducting and reporting on wetland delineations. We will also review any formal guidance issued by the San Francisco, Sacramento, or Los Angeles USACE Districts. Lastly, we will present examples from actual delineations and permitting scenarios to demonstrate successful techniques to get a verified delineation and discuss the “grey areas” of regulatory permitting. The training will provide ample opportunity for questions and discussion, so come prepared with examples and questions from your own practice. Training will be led by Bay Area delineation experts Amanda McCarthy, PhD, Aaron Arthur, MS, CCB and Greg Sproull, MS  1st day will be lectures and discussion in the classroom  2nd day we will visit sites in Marin County to apply discussion topics to real situations What are my transport/parking options getting to the training?
