Monmouth Arts will honor and celebrate women leaders in the arts at their annual Gala fundraiser, “QUEENS of ART” on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at the House of Independents, Asbury Park.

This year’s honorees include Maureen Van Zandt, actress and former ballet dancer; Jenn Hampton, curator of the Wooden Walls Project and owner and curator of Parlor Gallery; Mil Wexler, artist and founder of the Empty Bowls Project of New Jersey; Morgan Sackman, owner and manager of the House of Independents; and business leader PNC Bank for their support of the arts in the community.

The event will illuminate the wealth of artistic talent found in Monmouth County and include cocktails, delicious fare, music, drag queen, and high energy performances. It will also feature silent and live auctions with must-have artist works alongside fantastic prize packages.
The largest annual fundraiser for Monmouth Arts, the yearly gala supports educational arts programming and services that enrich community life. According to Teresa Staub, Monmouth Arts Executive Director, “We hope this unique gala will give the community an opportunity to celebrate the arts in Monmouth County and honor women in our community who are leaders in the arts in Monmouth County.”

This year’s gala is chaired by Monmouth Arts Board Members, Peder Haberg, and Kristen Padovano of Rumson and Margot Goldberg of Port Monmouth. Popular Monmouth County personality Stephen Rubino will emcee the Gala.

Additional highlights of the event include:

Alexis Michelle, best known for competing on the ninth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, will emcee the live auction and entertain guests throughout the evening.

Rock performances by Rockit Academy, a Red Bank based based nonprofit organization comprised of young musicians ages 8 to 18.

Dazzling and imaginative ballet performances by the Axelrod Contemporary Ballet, Monmouth County’s new professional ballet company under the direction of Gabriel Chajnik.

Red Bank’s Whipped Creperie will serve an array of delicious crepe desserts imagined by owner/chef Erica Lieberman.
