Heill Ollum! Join the Falcon Kindred once again for our annual Midvinter Thor Blot! The events will start off early with a 9:00 A.M. arrival time and a full day of activities. 12:00 P.M. Falcon Kindred will blot to Thor and take in the might of Sunna in our Solstice fire eating ritual. 2:30 P.M. Falcon Kindred Board of Directors monthly business meeting. This is the time to discuss kindred business. All are welcome to attend and present ideas for consideration. Business meetings are limited to 30 minutes. 5:00 P.M. Formal feast in honor of Thor. Each month Falcon Kindred feasts in honor of the god or goddess to whom we have offered blot. This is an extremely holy meal and a time for the utmost in respect and formality. Each dish is prepared with specific intent and treated as the holy item that it is. No one touches the food intended for feast until a plate of the first and best of everything is set aside to be offered to the god through fire. When all are seated and the meal is blessed the kindred eats together. 7:30 P.M. Sumble. Sumble is one of the most important events of any heathen gathering. The structure of Falcon Kindred sumbel is that of three ritual toasts. The first round is drank to a god or goddess of the AEsir and Vanir. The second toast is made to an ancestor. The third round is an open round in which songs are sung, poems recited, friends toasted and other rites of the folk such as naming and rites of passage are conducted. The third round is also for the swearing of oaths. If an individual intends to swear an oath the kindred requires that first council be sought. During sumble the kindred conducts itself with the highest level of respect and honor towards the one who stands with drinking horn in hand. To hear the words spoken from the hearts of the holy kindred is a rare privilege enjoyed by few. This time belongs to the kindred as we develope the bonds of kinship to be gotten in no other way. Please bring personal feast ware if you have it and a drinking vessel for ritual. We ask that our guests gather in the hof and reserve the home of our hosts for food preparation. Children are welcome and expected in our midst at all times.
