Cucalorus brings people together to celebrate, discover and create independent films. The annual festival provides a non-competitive environment to honor and support filmmakers. The Annual Cucalorus Film Festival is a multi-day event with screenings, workshops, social events, and assorted educational and industry-related programming. The festival supports aspiring, emerging and established artists working outside of the major studio system. Cucalorus is a non-competitive showcase that creates a relaxed environment where the attention is focused on the filmmaker. Cucalorus screens films which span the broad spectrum of creative voices in the medium, including narrative and documentary features and shorts, including premieres, works-in-progress and experimental presentations. The Foundation provides a forum for new ideas, providing a catalyst for invention and innovation in the art form. Through Cucalorus, artists connect with audiences on their own terms, outside of the typical distribution network. With year-round programming, the Foundation is committed to developing new, diverse audiences and promoting media literacy through independent film.
