“Agnes Browne,” is based on a book of the same name written by popular Irish comedian, Brendan O’Carroll. The unexpected death of her husband sends Agnes (Anjelica Huston, who also directed) and her seven children, ages two - 14, into emotional turmoil and financial crisis in 1967 Dublin. Her one wish is to be able to see Tom Jones appearing in concert. Huston drew on her own background growing up in Ireland in creating the atmosphere for the film.

Williamsburg Regional Library presents the Celtic Film Series, now in its 10th season, in cooperation with the John Cardinal O’Connor Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. The series explores the history, drama and quirky humor of films made in or about Celtic lands and people.
