Robert Hickey, deputy director of The Protocol School of Washington®(PSOW), has been conducting protocol trainings and workshops since 1988. In the last year he has presented trainings in Washington DC, Atlanta, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Toronto, Port of Spain (Trinidad), Brussels (Belgium). and both Dubai and Abu Dhabi (UAE).
He is author of Honor & Respect: The Official Guide to Names, Titles, and Forms of Address. The book contains information useful to anyone who interacts with any type of official. Charles MacPherson of The Charles MacPherson Academy for Butlers and Household Managers calls the book "like a doorman providing you entry into the world of the high and mighty."

He believes that in today's casual world most people would benefit from the techniques developed by protocol officers to streamline communication and calm fragile nerves in tense situations. He also believes the basics of protocol are useful to anyone interested in advancing his or her career or who needs a better understanding of other cultures.
