MAJOR UPDATES, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY First, the Food Drive- We have full page and two-up PDFs ready for delivery via email. The plan is basically this: 1- Send an email request directly from your email to Ron4Obama@comcast.net with Send Food Drive Fliers in the subject line. (remember, you can't use the MyBO listserv to submit your request because if we try to reply to it the listserv will strip out the attachment) There are two versions available, one that prints two to a page which are intended for canvassing your neighborhoods and a full page version for those who might be interested in setting up a collection station at their work place or similar venue. 2- During the course of the coming week and or over the 17th & 18th canvass your neighborhood to ask for non-perishable food items leaving a flier at those homes where no one or no adults are home. Then bring the food items that you have collected to the Food Drop location listed on the flier that is most convenient to you. Clearly the more of your neighborhood you are willing to canvass the greater the benefit but if many us just cover the block we live on the results can be significant. 3- Our hope is that most everyone will be able and willing to use the PDFs to print fliers for their own neighborhood since the budget for printing is very minimal. However, if you need us to print fliers for you don't be shy about requesting them but please be realistic in the amount you request. 4- It is important that all food donation make it to one of the drop locations by 4 PM on the 18th. FYI, the 4 drop locations that we have set up are: 3646 E. 116th Ave., Northglenn- 112th& Colorado Blvd. 9248 E. 109th Ave., Henderson- 104th Ave. & Hwy 85 1645 W. 130th Ct., Westminster- 128th & Zuni 8060 King St.., Westminster- 80th & Lowell Blvd. Secondly, the Read-a-thon we had hoped to organize didn't materialize due to difficulties in arranging appropriate scheduling with local libraries. Instead we are encouraging everyone who can to participate in the MLK Day Marade on Monday the 19th. We are asking that everyone who is planning to attend the Marade please gather near the left side of the stage/program area (that's the left as you face the stage). There will be a separate event created for this but we encourage everyone to attend and be creative in making signs and banners. Last of all we would like to remind everyone that the Food Drive is not a “political” event. In 1994 Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act designation Martin Luther King Day as a day of community service rather than a holiday or a day off from work or school. It is in this spirit that Colorado Citizens for Change & Progress have organized this community food drive to help stock barren food pantries here in our community. Our thanks to all of you for your contribution to this effort and for your efforts to help elect the 44th president of the United States of America!
