Wayland Public Library
The Wayland Public Library's mission is the effective delivery of modern public library services to the community, especially by providing adults and children with free access to a wide selection of reference and circulating books and nonprint materials in a variety of formats. The library offers Reference service during most of its open hours, as well as high-speed public access to the Internet.The library is a founding member of the Minuteman Library Network (MLN). Through its membership in the MLN, the library has access to the collections of more than 40 local public and academic libraries and is able to borrow materials from other institutions. The Wayland library card may be used at other MLN libraries. Materials not owned by the Wayland library may be requested from other libraries in the network. You may access the joint catalog of MLN libraries and your borrower account from the MLN homepage at http://www.mln.lib.ma.us.

The Wayland Free Public Library was founded in 1848 as the first free public library in Massachusetts. It was the second free public library established in the United States. Click here for a brief history of the Wayland Library.
The library has recently completed the active phase of a major ongoing fundraising campaign to establish an endowment fund for the library. Donations to the Millennium Fund continue to be welcomed.
In the area of adult programming, the library offers reading/discussion groups, a spring Shakespeare series, poetry workshops, a volunteer English-as-a-second language tutoring program, a nature photography group, and other special speakers and events.
Rotating art exhibits are offered in the main foyer and Raytheon Room and thematic displays on the lower level. Call the library if you would like to have an exhibit of artwork or small collections.
In addition to all the usual print format materials, the library circulates popular and non-fiction videos in both VHS and DVD format, travel and cultural videos, compact discs, and books-on-tape in both cassette and CD format.
