Weschler's has been an auction tradition in the Nation's Capital for almost 120 years, earning a reputation of trust and reliability.
As one of the nation's leading auctioneers and appraisers and as Washington D.C.'s only auction house, Weschler's has been in the unique position to auction over the years property from many prominent local estates such as Katherine Graham, Honorable and Mrs. William McChesney Martin, Jr., Ella Poe Burling, Marshall Coyne, Mary Marvin Breckinridge Patterson, Ambassador and Mrs. Philip Bonsal, Lawrence Lomax, as well as furnishing from the Barney Studio House.
Weschler's holds at least 6 catalogue auctions each season, featuring European & American Furniture and Decorations; Paintings, Prints, Drawings & Sculpture; Jewelry, Coins & Watches; 20th Century Decorative Arts; Asian Works of Art; and Rugs, Carpets & Tapestries.
To complement our catalogue auctions, every week Weschler's holds non-catalogue auctions with offerings including reproduction furniture, period pieces, rugs, artwork, silver, jewelry, collectibles, books and general household goods.
Weschler's can also provide written appraisals for estate tax and estate planning, insurance, charitable contributions and other purposes. Our staff includes experienced appraisers and qualified specialists that are able to provide valuations of fine art, furniture, decorative arts, jewelry, Asian works and other valuables. You can be assured our professional appraisals comply with all standards and codes of ethics of the American Society of Appraisers and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.
The fourth and fifth generations of Weschler family members continue to uphold the principles on which Adam Weschler founded his company in 1890 -- that the client's interests should remain above all others. To ensure this, Adam Weschler resolved that the company would neither buy nor own any of the items it sold at auction. We maintain this same policy today and act solely as a representative for the buyer or seller.
Whether you are interested in buying or selling at auction, one item or an entire estate or collection, you will find Weschler's can accommodate your needs. For more information, please contact us at 202.628.1281 or visit our website www.weschlers.com
