Description
Worldwide, over one million cord rosaries are made by hand by volunteers and distributed free of charge each year. In this workshop, we will learn how to make the popular all-twine knot rosary. Next to Mission rosaries and Ranger Rosaries, twine rosaries are very popular. While these rosaries take longer to make, the handwork is very meditative. These rosaries are popular with teens, and can be made from brightly colored twine - available in neon colors! Once you get started making rosaries, you can send them overseas to priests that request them, or give them to friends, family or charities closer to home. Materials for this workshop and handouts are provided free. If you can tie a knot, you can make a rosary! Information sheets are available at this link on the WMC website: www.meetup.com/washington.metro.catholics/files Kogod Courtyard of the National Portrait Gallery/American Art Museum We will meet in the Kogod Courtyard, a 28,000–square–foot space at the center of the National Portrait Gallery/American Art Museum building. The Courtyard has a wavy glass-and-steel roof that provides ideal light for rosary making. This is a peaceful public space with fountains. The Courtyard features a Museum gift shop on one side and a Cafe kiosk on the other. The kiosk offers coffee, tea, drinks, salads and sandwiches which you can eat anywhere in the courtyard. Metro: Gallery Place-Chinatown Station (Red, Yellow and Green lines). Take the Arena exit at 7th and F Streets. Look to your right and you will see a large tan historic building. Cross the street go to the entrance that is directly across from the Spy Museum. Parking: Parking Garages located here: http://www.npg.si.edu/inform/visitor.htm The "event fee" is voluntary. I'll pass around an envelope to collect voluntary contributions of $.50 - $1 to defray the monthly cost of maintaining the groups Meetup.com website.
Event details may change at any time, always check with the event organizer when planning to attend this event or purchase tickets.
