The Washington Smushnose Meetup

This week's meetup is at SHIRLINGTON DOG PARK (Arlington, VA 22206). It's straightforward getting there from NW DC: drive south on 14TH ST NW/SW, take 395 SOUTH & follow the signs marked "SHIRLINGTON" (right exit off of 395 South), this puts you directly onto STH ARLINGTON MILL DR. Turn (immediate) RIGHT onto (Sth) SHIRLINGTON RD. Turn (second) LEFT onto (Sth) FOUR MILE RUN DR. Turn (first) LEFT onto (Sth) NELSON ST. Park in the lot at the dead-end of (Sth) Nelson St (i.e., behind the Shirlington public storage facility). The dogpark's double-gated entrance is at the edge of the carpark, & the small-dogs enclosure where we meet is immediately on your right on entering. Please note: There's a stream/creek running past the Shirlington Dog Park which many dog-owners let their dogs splash & swim in for fun. We allowed OLIVER into it when we visited Shirlington for the first time a couple months ago, but another dog-owner reminded us afterwards of the risk of dogs (& humans) contracting LEPTOSPIROSIS from water in which (infected) rat-urine might possibly be present (particularly following recent rain). Since we've decided not to inoculate OLIVER against LEPTOSPIROSIS (owing to wariness that dogs have been known to have had bad reactions to that particular vaccine), we won't be allowing OLIVER to go down to the water at Shirlington to play.
