Shenandoah Valley Hot Air Balloon & Wine Festival A Celebration of Life Amid the Blue Ridge October 19, 2008 13th Annual Hot Air Balloon & Wine Festival We will meet around 11:30 in the Tyson's Corner area to carpool. We can pick up at the Vienna Metro if necessary. You can bring your folding chairs or blankets for a picnic at the fair. Bring a bag lunch, for a picnic or munchies to have with the wine. Wine Tasting in VirginiaÂ’s Hunt Country Sip vintages from a wide selection of Virginia wineries from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. A tasting glass and wristband purchase at $10 per person permits those 21 and over to sample wines. Wine glass sales end at 4:30 p.m. and photo ID is required. Sunrise to Sunset Activities Stay busy or just park your chair or blanket on the lawns of Long Branch while enjoying a variety of live entertainment. Festival foods sell non-stop throughout the weekend, tasty Johnsonville Brats for lunch and afternoon snacking. Virginia Giant Monster Truck rides ($5 last year), the Old Dominion Fire Society antique fire engine display, Plane Crazy radio-controlled planes and more continue throughout the weekend. Each person can buy their tickets online or at the door. Online by October 7th is $16 for entrance and wine tasting. No refunds. At the door is $10 Admission, and $10 for wine tasting, for a total of $20 if you will be tasting wine. We will set up a gathering picnic area upon our arrival, before setting out to enjoy the fair and wine tasting. Bring your Lunch or snacks to share. There is also plenty of food for sale at the fair in addition to the wines. Hot Air balloons depart around 4pm weather permitting. The Shenandoah's Fall foliage is even more spectacular from a hot air balloon. Flights book quickly and advance reservations (with participating pilots) are highly recommended. Rides are available, at $250 per person, weather permitting.
