Remember the days hiking to a scenic lake for a little "R and R" with the family? Well join us for a group excursion to Needwood Lake to relive those times or experience it for the first time but this time by bike. Start: U Street/ Cardozo metro station(green), Leader: Gregg - The ride starts off on 14th proceed to Rock Creek Park along Beach Drive towards Veir Mills Park then travel along a series of bike trails to Needwood Lake itself. - Total Distance: approximately 52 miles - Single Distance: 26 miles - Paved trail riding, street riding Highlights: Beach Drive, Rock Creek Park, Needwood Lake and lots of trees and a few furry creatures Official map of the top of the trail from Beach to Needwood: http://www.montgomeryparks.org/PPSD/ParkTrails/trails_MAPS/trailmap_pdfs/RCreek_trail.pdf - All rides are 'No Drop', for nobody will be left behind. - HELMETS ARE REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION. - ID, spare tube, bike lock/cable is highly recommended. - Snacks and liquids can be purchased. - The event will be canceled/postponed if it rains. - Email me if you have any questions
