THE SEA IS SO WIDE AND MY BOAT IS SO SMALL
(HarperCollins, $19.95)
Civil rights leader, children’s advocate, and author of seven books before this one, Edelman has written a deeply personal volume in the form of letters to parents, teachers, community leaders, her own grandchildren, and to others. Perhaps most moving is the letter addressed to Martin Luther King, Jr..

There is no charge for this event; books are available at the store and, on the night of the event, at the synagogue.

More about Politics & Prose
Politics & Prose
Our customers see us as a community center, a notion that we have fostered to the best of our ability. In this increasingly fragmented age people crave public places where they can relax with friends or in solitude. We have consciously attempted to provide this environment through our coffeehouse, and in the store with comfortable chairs for reading and relaxing (which we have provided since we opened fourteen years ago), and especially through our public events. We provide a mix of talks and readings to appeal to old and young, women and men, black and white—some for entertainment and others for raising issues.
