It looks like I have the last formally scheduled event of 2009. With X-Mas so close, something more casual seemed in order. So no formal dinner this time, but I am taking you to one of my favorite restaurants of 2009 where really flavorful food & tasty beverage selections are plentiful. We're going back to Cedar restaurant, this time for an extended Social / Happy Hour w/ optional dinner! LOVE the food here. Let's just say it's all about the flavor here [butter is their friend lol]. I've taken the group here for dinner & it was a quite popular event . Drink / Food Specials ==> HH specials will run from 5:30 p.m. till 8! Just show when you can! Checkout our HH Specials (+ there's Artisinal Cheeses for $4 each) *** Ignore the 7 p.m. cutoff listed, our deal is till 8 p.m. *** Checkout the general cocktail list (normal pricing) Checkout the "mocktail" list if you'd rather not drink (normal pricing) For the HH Big Bites specials. definite fan of the House Braised Pork Belly "BLT" [yum!], Crispy Risotto Bites w/ Meyer Lemon And Crème Fraiche [yum!], Duck-Fat Fried Potatoes w/ Béarnaise Sauce [duck fat!] & Grilled Lemon Chicken Wings. I've eaten at the bar prior to a Gallery Place movie many a times this year. Psst, 3 of the above choices for $15 makes you STUFFED and is a great hidden deal in the Chinatown area. Optional Dinner? For those interested [completely optional], I've arranged some open tables in the main dining area for members interested in having a meal with other interested members sometime during the Social. [figure say 6:30 or 7 p.m.] Good choices to consider on the current menu include the Butter Poached Lobster with fava beans, potato puree and black trumpets [yum!], Butternut Squash Soup with roasted apples, bacon and amaretti, Wild Mushroom Stuffed Quail with potato puree, baby leeks and madeira jus [yum!], Crispy Braised Lamb Shoulder with smoky eggplant, greek yogurt and haricot vert, or the Herb Crusted Venison with roasted sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts and cranberry compote. Even the King Trumpet Mushrooms with green lentils, poached egg, walnuts and arugula-frisée salad vegetarian dish is tasty [coming from the carnivore lol] Entree prices are quite reasonable in the $20 - 28 range. You'll find lots of warm tones, wood, and images of digitally-reproduced cedar forest on the walls.
