Description
Hey Ladies, Sorry we had to cancel the last class due to the hurricane. If you paid for the last course - your payment will automatically transferred to this course. Or, if you prefer to take the Basic Rider Course (BRC) please e-mail me and pay the remainder. If you are unable to make it - please let me know immediately to make other arrangements. Since this course does not provide a license (unlike the BRC) - you can come from any state to come play on the motorcycles. So you MD and DC folks - come on down! This class is right after the BRC course - so you are welcome to have dinner with the crew and camp out with us Sat night! Would love to have you! This is a a pre-beginner motorcycle basic rider course! But, if you have always wanted to get comfortable with a bike or are potentially interested in taking the 2-day course but not sure... join us for a 3-hour intro program! This is a beginner "intro" course for the ladies and taught by ladies! We've got a great program set up so come out get comfortable with a bike, and meet some other crazy ladies. Hope you can join us!! DATE: Saturday, October 11, 2008. TIME: 4:30-7:30 pm. MUST BE ON TIME!! Or, come a little early to check out the BRC! PRICE: $96.00, (includes class cost and registration fees) WHY WOULD YOU TAKE THIS COURSE?: The Jump Start program is designed for the novice (lady) rider to gain familiarity and comfort with the motorcycle BEFORE taking the Basic Rider Course (BRC). Have you ever wanted to ride/operate a motorcycle? Ever wondered if your weight, size, age, strength, etc.,could be an issue in learning to operate a motorcycle? Are you worried about going to the 2 day BRC and being the only person there with no idea about motorcycle controls, shifting or experience? Maybe you are not sure about committing 2 1/2 days of your life in order to learn to operate a motorcycle. Just not sure, and yet interested. WELL... TAKE JUMP START! WHAT DOES JUMP START TEACH YOU?: The Jump Start program is made up of the following MSF range activities: 1. Motorcycle Familiarization: This exercise is designed to acquaint the new rider with the major parts and controls of a motorcycle. 2. Using the Friction Zone: This exercise is designed to introduce riders with the procedures and practices to start out, stop, and operate at low speed in a straight line. (side note: considering I never used a clutch before -- can be quite difficult. And, it is is different than a car cluth.) 3. Starting and Stopping: This exercise is designed to provide practice time for riders in learning clutch/throttle coordination in starting out and stopping. 4. Shifting and Stopping: This exercise is designed to help riders learn to shift gears. RiderCoaches for the program are all experienced motorcycle operators who are state certified by the Department of Motor Vehicles Motorcycle Program, The Virginia Rider Training Program (VRTP). No personal motorcycles will be used for Jump Start. MOTORCYCLES AND HELMETS WILL BE FURNISHED. NOW TO THE IMPORTANT PART: WHAT TO WEAR! 1. EYE PROTECTION. (bring sunglasses/glasses) 2. OVER-THE-ANKLE FOOTWEAR: a pair of boots that cover the ankle and protect the feet (with little or no heel and no cloth or canvas). 3. A LONG SLEEVE jacket or long sleeve shirt and long pants of denim or other material of equivalent durability. 4. A PAIR OF FULL FINGERED GLOVES of leather or other material with resistance to abrasion. HELMETS WILL BE PROVIDED: However, if you have a personal helmet you would like to bring it must be a full or 3/4 face DOT approved helmets are allowed, no half shell helmets permitted. (Bring bandanna or something to cover your hair under the helmet. Remember a lot of others have worn these helmets). PAID: (ONLY 10 SPOTS) 1. Chase (Organizer BRC & Jumpstart) 2. Vanessa (Organizer BRC & Jumpstart) 3. Karen S. 4. Lorraine H. 5. Shannon C. 6. Shannon C. Guest CARPOOL: Since this course is in Richmond, we plan on carpooling so check the board for updates or put up where you are carpooling from and how many spots you have. WEATHER: Like any motorcycle course -- ride in the rain and pause for lightening. So if the weather looks a little rough make sure to bring appropriate attire. We ride in the rain and pause for lightning! REFUNDS: Please see Refund Policy I if we can fill your spot.
