La cancion del pulque and Los ladrones viejos New Documentaries from Mexico Film Series

• 12 Noon-3 PM: La cancion del pulque (2003, in Spanish with English subtitles, directed by Everardo Gonzalez)
This film offers a portrait of daily life at the pulqueria (tavern) La Pirata and pays homage to ranchera music, to the barrio (neighborhood), to pulque (a traditional alcoholic drink dating to indigenous times), and to all those who drink it. Discussion with the film's director follows.

• 3-5 PM: Los ladrones viejos: las leyendas del artegio (2007, in Spanish with English subtitles, directed by Everardo Gonzalez) This film tells the story of a generation of thieves who were notorious in Mexico during the 1960s. It also delves into the Mexican criminal underworld, the police authorities who allowed them to continue their illegal activities, and the consequences of this relationship.
