11 AM-4:30 PM: Enjoy arts and crafts, storytelling, poetry reading, and the film The Black Candle. Guests include dancer/choreographer Aysha Upchurch, Yacouba Mask Society stilt walkers, and author Kyndall Brown, who signs copies of her book.

6:30 PM: (2008, directed by M.K. Asante Jr.) Narrated by world renowned poet Maya Angelou, this documentary uses the seven principles of Kwanzaa as a vehicle to tell the story about the struggle and triumph of African-American family, community, and culture. It was filmed across the United States, Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean.

The National Museum of African Art is a museum that is part of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.. Located on the National Mall, the museum specializes in African art and culture. The museum started as a private collection and became part of the Smithsonian in 1979. Its main entrance is situated off of the gardens in front of the Smithsonian Castle along Independence Avenue.
