Irish Festival in Alexandria, VA - Cuisine, Cultural Performance & More!!

If your "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" T-shirt comes out only on St. Patrick's Day, then you obviously have never been to the Alexandria Irish Festival. Sponsored by the Ballyshaners, an Alexandria nonprofit group whose name means "Old Towners" in Gaelic, the event promotes Irish music and culture, with part of the proceeds from food and drink sales funding the group's annual St. Patrick's Day parade. Pat Troy's Alexandria restaurant caters the event, serving such typical Irish fare as corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew. Pipe bands, bagpipers, singers and Irish dance troupes perform throughout the day. And of course, it wouldn't be an Irish festival without Guinness and Smithwick's on tap. So throw on a piece of green clothing and celebrate the Emerald Isle on the banks of the Potomac.
