What is the role of a news organization's ombudsman? And how does she deal with the more than 75,000 questions and comments she receives each year?
As National Public Radio's ombudsman, or public representative, Alicia Shepard straddles the line between the news gatherers and news consumers, explaining NPR to listeners, and listeners to NPR.
Learn how she pulls back the curtain on the reporting process and sheds light on how reporters, editors and producers make news decisions.
Shepard is the author of the book "Woodward and Bernstein: Life in the Shadow of Watergate." She also has contributed to American Journalism Review, The Chicago Tribune, The New York Times, and Washingtonian magazine.
"Inside Media" is produced by the Newseum and is open to Newseum visitors. Seating is on a space-available basis.
