** 1/13/09 - Hey! If you have any trouble purchasing tickets here please call Stacey at 808.778.7823 -- I got a call tonight from some folks who were having trouble with the PayPal thing.
Spread a little aloha in DC at the first Inaugural Luau. Experience authentic ono (delicious) Hawaiian food cooked by Les Tomita, owner and chef at Da Kitchen on Maui and the music of multiple Hoku Award Winning band Maunalua and Grammy Award winning John Cruz. Dress is "aloha formal" -- wear an evening gown and your prettiest Niihau shells. How gussied up you get is up to you: if you want to wear a tux, wear a tux. If you want to wear an aloha (Hawaiian) shirt, wear an aloha shirt. The main thing is to have fun and celebrate!
Door prizes galore... Hawaiian shirts and dresses, wood items, Hawaii-themed gifts, etc. Everyone will go home with something.
Da menu:
Kalua pig, laulau, long rice, lomi salmon, poi, white rice
plus (from Hotel Monaco): roast prime sirloin beef, herb crusted rack of lamb, three onion and brie tart, crab cakes with sauce remoulade and coconut shrimp with sweet and sour sauce.
Above plus Moi (and maybe some lobster) for the premium ticket holders.
Drinks are included with regular tickets.
Premium ticket holders to receive a goodie bag including a Maunalua cd and other island treats. Also, premium ticket holders will receive premium menu dishes (moi and maybe some lobster... the `opihi didn't pan out, sorry. :( ). Also, a portion of premium ticket sales will go towards a special gift for President Obama from Hawaii to take with him to the Oval Office, so be sure to sign the card (premium ticket holders only).
It's going to be super fun! We're flying lots of food up from Hawaii so I'm pretty confident we're going to have the best food in town (and if not the best... it will be REALLY good. :) But really... where would you find better food than this? :D). Come share the aloha.
