Hike Up White Oak and Down Cedar Run

When training for climbing, most people focus on the ascent and completely forget that you gotta come back down the mountain too. White Oak/Cedar Run is one of the few local hikes where I think the down is just as bad as the up. Possibly worse. It's also a great way to test your mental focus when you're tired, a little bored after the long fire road and ready to be done! Cedar Run is tricky thanks to lots of roots, rocks and step-downs. http://www.hikingupward.com/SNP/WhiteOakCedarRun/ We'll climb up the falls on the White Oak side and then down Cedar Run. This hike can be a little wet, so wear your waterproof hiking shoes. The parking area is small, so please plan on carpooling. Hike starts at 7:30 am to avoid the fall crowds so we'll leave DC at 5:30 am. Carpool location is the Centreville Commuter Lot. I'm going to wear my big pack and tote some weight.
