Healthcare "Caravan to DC " Nov. 16-17 to visit key Senators

If you would like to influence the final Senate vote on the upcoming Healthcare bill - you may represent your state and join a group doing so as we visit the offices of key senators in DC the week before the Senate vote. A bill with the Public Option on Healthcare has passed in the House. The consolidation committee between the House and Senate will send a bill with the Public Option to the Senate. When the final bill from consolidation goes back to the Senate, 60 votes will be needed to bring it to the floor and 51 votes will be needed to pass the bill. During the week between consolidation and the final vote, it will be key that we ask the pivotal Senators to represent us with their vote. A visit in person counts for 21 times the weight of a letter by mail! On November 16 and 17th, we will go to the Capitol to visit key Senators' offices leading up to the final vote. A bus will begin in Portland, Maine stopping for pick ups in Windham, New Hampshire, Framingham, MA, Hartford, CT, Newburgh, NY and Delaware en route. Seats are on a first come basis. We will leave on Monday and return late Tuesday night. The cost for round trip bus and hotel is $135 and a check must be mailed and received to hold a seat (see details below). For the visit to make an impact on the vote, representatives of that Senator's state must be present. We will also have the group from all states standing by to show a crowd and make an impact through attention. If you are in the Northeast (e.g. a student) and a resident of any of the following states, your presence on this trip can also make a big difference.
