Event details: Everyday Language: How We Talk to Each Other All-Day Sem...
Description
We depend on language every day but rarely consider how we communicate our needs and interest in daily situations. Today, Deborah Schiffrin (chair, linguistics department, Georgetown University) and Anna Trester (assistant director, language and communication program, Georgetown University) discuss the different forms of communication and then delve into how to improve verbal communication by understanding how the right word and the wrong word can affect interaction with one another.
