Description

It’s March, 1945, and though Henry Forester is home in Virginia, he can't stop thinking about the people in the French Resistance who risked their lives to save him. In particular he worries about eight-year-old Pierre, and returns to France to search for him. Henry sees farmland destroyed by Allied bombers, meets survivors of concentration camps, and encounters innumerable displaced people looking for relatives. But the French authorities are isolationists and do not want British, American, or Russian citizens in their country as the war ends. Will Henry be sent back to America before he finds Pierre? Ages 12-16.

More about Politics & Prose
Politics & Prose
Our customers see us as a community center, a notion that we have fostered to the best of our ability. In this increasingly fragmented age people crave public places where they can relax with friends or in solitude. We have consciously attempted to provide this environment through our coffeehouse, and in the store with comfortable chairs for reading and relaxing (which we have provided since we opened fourteen years ago), and especially through our public events. We provide a mix of talks and readings to appeal to old and young, women and men, black and white—some for entertainment and others for raising issues.
