Latin Concepts and its owner Mauricio Fraga-Rosenfeld will present the 2008 DC SCORES Soccer Ball, incorporating Latin fusion into the fundraising efforts of a local nonprofit.
The gala will begin at 6:30 pm with a cocktail reception and silent auction followed by dinner, student performances, and a live auction at 8 pm. The 2008 Soccer Ball will be held at the Organization of American States, 17th Street and Constitution Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Tickets for the event are $150, VIP tickets are $200. Proceeds from the Soccer Ball will benefit DC SCORES.
DC SCORES is one of Washington's largest and most successful youth development programs. The innovative after school model increases students' commitment to education, healthy living, and civic responsibility by combining soccer, written and spoken word, and community improvements every day after school. The DC SCORES model tackles two of the biggest barriers facing youth - childhood obesity and literacy. DC SCORES currently enrolls over 700 students annually from twenty-two DC public elementary and middle schools.
DC SCORES is an affiliate of America SCORES, the nation's largest inner-city soccer and literacy program.
